Woodson selected for Adopt-a-School Community Service Initiative
H.D. Woodson High School has been selected by the United States District and Bankruptcy Court for the District of Columbia Clerk’s Office, for the adopt-a-school community service initiative for the 2022-2023 school year! This partnership further enhances the wraparound services we provide to our scholars daily. Today’s delivery of school supplies to include backpacks, pens, pencils, glue, tissue, erasers, hand sanitizer, binders, and notebooks to name a few, is the first of many generous donations to come. Additionally, our scholars have been invited to tour the Courthouse for educational purposes and possible employment opportunities.

Woodson JROTC Visits White House
On Friday, June 17th, 2022, a few of the top cadets from H.D. Woodson’s Navy JROTC unit were provided the rare opportunity to embark on a visit and tour of the White House located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest in Washington, D.C.
Cadet Lieutenant Donnie Coleman, Cadet Petty Officer Second Class Jamari Davis, and Retired Navy LCDR/NJROTC Instructor Akil King from Woodson High School toured America’s most popular residential address along with Retired Marine Corps Major/NJROTC Instructor Luke Wright and four NJROTC cadets from CHEC-Bell Multicultural High School in Columbia Heights.
Although there were no surprise sightings of President Joe Biden nor First Lady Jill Biden during their visit, a few highlights of the tour included the White House’s East Wing, Green Room, Blue Room, Red Room, Movie Theater, Library, State Dining Room, and Cross Hall – where the Commander-In-Chief occasionally holds national press conferences about important events oft consequential to America’s national security and well-being.
